Rune Werner Molnes

Biografi

Rune Werner Molnes (1978) - photographer, environmental activist and visual artist who mainly focuses on subjects such as existentialism, landscape conservation and rural decay.

These are some of the themes that he sheds light on in his project "Entropy", which was accepted to the West Norway exhibition (Vestlandsutstillingen) – an esteemed, artist curated exhibition with more than a century of history. The same project was exhibited in Copenhagen and Reykjavik. Recently “Entropy” was awarded an artistic grant within international art and culture exchange.

"Unworldly Landscape" is a project that has been created during ten study stays in Iceland, where he also collaborated with environmental organizations for the protection of unique areas in the Icelandic highlands. The latter project has, among other things, resulted in a solo exhibition at Galleri Fóld in Reykjavik, as well as art purchases for the Norwegian Representation Office in Palestine and the Icelandic Consulate in Detroit, USA.

Recently, photos from his project "Authentic Landscape" were acquired by the the Japanese Consulate in Norway. The project was commissioned work for UiB that was created through a year of free project work with an accompanying solo exhibition.

Rune has long been a working board chairman at Isotop Fellesatelier in the center of Bergen, where he has his studio on the third floor. He has an educational background from philosophy studies at UiB, a master's degree from NHH with over 20 years of work in the professional arts.

Molnes has participated in several solo exhibitions at home and abroad in recent years, and his art can be found in private and public collections. He has been among the finalists of the "European Fine Art Photograph of the Year". He also received the highest award in the "Prix De La Photographie Paris". Rune's art is represented at leading galleries in cities such as Reykjavik, Bergen, Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
