Karl Forsberg is a Swedish photographer whose artistic work lies at the intersection of street and documentary photography. The starting point is Karl's early fascination with 'The Big City' and its multifaceted expressions.

His work focuses on human presence in the urban environment and moves between distance and proximity, between observation and encounters. It is structured around three interconnected areas of work: Scenes, Encounters, and Fragments.

Scenes explore the choreography of everyday life in the city. The images are built on distance and observation, where people move within a larger visual structure.

Encounters arise when the photographer and subject share a moment of awareness—or during a brief meeting. Recently, Karl has become interested in the point at which the subject’s self-presentation begins to change, and control is no longer entirely stable.

Fragments are isolated details from the urban scene—gestures, bodies, surfaces, and other things that suggest presence without fully revealing it.
