Each image in this series examines the tension between the constant desire for cleanliness and the overwhelming sense of unease that accompanies it. By focusing on everyday objects, compulsive washing, selective eating and touch, this project examines the thought processes behind seemingly simple daily actions, which can become ritualistic, obsessive, and exhausting when influenced by an anxious state of mind.

Eva Vei’s artistic practice focuses on themes of intimacy and self-reflection through non-linear visual narratives. By integrating photography with influences from painting and sculpture, she delves into everyday encounters, seeking to express and enhance her understanding of the emotional landscapes that shape interpersonal and intrapersonal communication.

In 2022, she was one of the Fresh Eyes Talents by GUP Magazine and, in 2023, she was nominated as a Futures Talent by Void, Athens. In 2024, she graduated from Valand’s Academy MFA in Photography in Gothenburg. Her work has been exhibited in Sweden and internationally, including a publication in Tokyo by Zerofeedback, Scan Tarragona in Catalonia, and Fotodoks in Munich.

A digital artist talk will take place via Centrum för fotografi’s Instagram on Wednesday, May 13 at 13:00.
