Carl Ander: Static Motion

For a decade, Carl Ander has collected photographs from instructional books on sports and health. The material contains a visual inventiveness that evokes the joy of movement, and the encounter between individual images creates unexpected meanings.

Carl Ander (b. 1991) is a photographer based in Gothenburg, working with both commercial assignments and artistic projects for books and exhibitions. His work has been published in Die Zeit, The New York Times, La Repubblica, and The Atlantic, and he has exhibited in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Oslo, and throughout Italy. He has published two monographs, Constructs (Heavy Books, 2020) and Static Motion (LL’Editions, 2025).
