Special viewing of Eric Magassa’s Rumble in the Jungle

Welcome to a special viewing of the exhibition Rumble in the Jungle at Botkyrka Konsthall.

The exhibition takes its shape in the form of Eric Magassa’s specific image and collage universe, with a pulsating soundsystem at its heart – a new commission that gets the center stage.

Eric’s artistic practice operates within a multisensory universe, like one large layer-on-layer collage, where the personal exploration of the circular narrative of family, archive, and in-betweenness inverts images and rearranges colours. ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ also refers to the famous title boxing match, challenges a prevailing description of the inner city/locality, is a sub-music genre, and a hella good time. The common thread can therefore appear both ambiguous, equivocal, and filled with joy, just as diverse as life can be.
