The exhibition Under Attack with Ukrainian Warchive opens on Saturday, October 28, at Ulricehamn City Hall. The exhibition conveys the profound impact of the war on the country and its people since the Russian invasion in February 2022, as seen through the eyes of a broad group of Ukrainian photographers and artists.

As Ukraine grapples with the consequences of Russian military aggression, these photographers have taken it upon themselves to document not only the devastation but also the solidarity, resilience, and hope that shines through during the darkest hours. Each image tells a story of how the photographers and fellow citizens are experiencing the ongoing conflict.

These artistic practices showcase both descriptive and emotionally charged images that add a new dimension to media coverage of the war and open up a deeper conversation about how Ukraine is affected by military violence.

Participating photographers: Yana Kononova, Alena Grom, Sergii Polezhaka, Sasha Kurmaz, Alexander Glyadyelov Viacheslav Ratynskyi, Lisa Bukreyeva, Roman Pashkovskiy, Julia Kochetova, Vladyslav Musiienko, and Roman Bordun.

Ukrainian Warchive is a digital archive supported by both the Swedish Institute and the Hasselblad Foundation. Its goal is to preserve documentary material from the Russian invasion and provide support to Ukrainian photographers documenting the events in the country.

The exhibition is part of GIBCA Extended and a collaboration with Kultur och Fritid Ulricehamn, Ulricehamns konstförening, with the support of Ulricehamns Sparbank / Sparbanksfonden Ulrica.
