New Board Member

We welcome our new board member Ela Polkowska and thank our outgoing board member Stefano Conti for his service.

Could you tell us a bit about your background in photography?

– I have a degree in photography from HDK-Valand in Gothenburg and the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava, Czech Republic. My work has been exhibited in Sweden and internationally. My experience in the field of photography also includes participation in the international photography programs “Futures” and “Parallel,” where I had the opportunity to meet other photographers, galleries, and photography festivals from across Europe. Since 2024, I have been a member of the collective “Blackbook Publications,” with whom I published the book “Splinter,” one of my multi-year projects at the intersection of documentary and art photography.

Is there anything within photography that you are particularly passionate about?

– I am drawn to projects that highlight places and subjects that exist on the margins of everyday life and outside general societal awareness. I am particularly interested in the photobook as a medium of expression, as it provides a geographically unlimited audience with access to photography and enables a more personal and intimate relationship with the image.

What attracted you to join the CFF board?

– I am interested in the development of photography from a photo community perspective. As a member of CFF since my student days, I have experienced how important the association is for photographers working in Sweden. Both as support for photography as a field, through visibility for individual photographers, and as a place that creates community among photographers. I believe in the importance of associations for the development of photography and am therefore interested in strengthening CFF’s role among photographers and within the art world in Sweden.
