Nothing but a Spaceless Place is a photographic exploration of the invisible spaces of thought, memory, and emotion. Through abstract, enigmatic scenes, Andrej Lamut creates a world that resists fixed interpretation. The images function as traces of something remembered, imagined, or felt. They invite a haptic way of looking, a way of experiencing images almost through touch, where the eye becomes sensitive to surfaces and textures.

This experience extends into the materiality of the book. The tactile surface of the paper and the unusual structure of the book encourage us to physically engage with it and to turn its pages in reverse. We gradually travel deeper into the book, moving through an increasingly uncertain space where we are confronted with fears and intrusive thoughts that we might not understand but can nonetheless feel. The book invites us to dive into this barely noticeable yet endless spaceless place again and again.

Andrej Lamut (1991) perceives photography as a form of expression beyond mimetic traditions. Through his work, he questions perception and challenges the viewer’s experience of images. His projects resist straightforward interpretation, instead inviting engagement with paradoxes, ambiguities, and possible meanings. His artistic approach often involves working with analog processes and alternative printing methods.

Lamut graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from HDK-Valand, Gothenburg, and holds a degree in Visual Communication Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He was part of the PARALLEL – European Photo Based Platform, and has exhibited his works at various venues and festivals across Europe, including FORMAT Festival (UK), Organ Vida (Croatia), Revela’t Festival (Spain),  Copenhagen Photofestival (Denmark), Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center (Hungary), MSUM – Museum of Contemporary Art (Slovenia), and Röda Sten Konsthall (Sweden).

His work continues to evolve through exhibitions, residencies, and photobooks, exploring photography as a space for encounter rather than mere representation.
