A conversation with photographer Tore Hagman about his book, Our Time with the Earth
Photographer Tore Hagman visits Alingsås Kulturhus for a conversation about his book, Our Time with the Earth.
This conversation is the first in a series in collaboration with libraries in the Västra Götaland region.
Our Time with the Earth is a tribute to the smallholder farmer. The photographs were taken by Tore Hagman between 1982–1996 and document a farming community from another time. Those depicted in the book are a lingering remnant of a professional group that was once nationwide and completely dominant, a time that can now be seen as a parenthesis in the farmer’s long history.
Tore Hagman, born in Vårgårda in 1952, is a nature photographer who has created and contributed to several photo books and has received a number of scholarships and awards for his photographic work. He dedicates himself to his own image projects, but also regularly collaborates with journalists and authors. In his approach, he seeks both documentary and aesthetic motifs for his images.
The lecture is in collaboration with Centrum för fotografi and Fotoförfattarna inom Svenska Fotografers Förbund. At the same time, a photobook exhibition is taking place on level 2 of the Kulturhus at Alingsås Library.
The lecture is part of Alingsås Kulturnatta.
