Things Change Anyway is a dynamic montage of time and space, a demonstration in queer time, presented as a diary without chronology or hierarchy. 2024 also marks the first year with the newly established category

The five nominees for the Swedish Photobook Award 2024 were Thomas Wågström, Elina Birkehag, Kjell-Åke Andersson, MC Coble & Louise Wolthers, and Jenny Lindhe. The winner was announced at the Swedish Photobook Award Gala on March 20, 2024, at Bio Rio in Stockholm.

New for this year is the Little Photobook Award, a prize for photographers who work with smaller editions, experimental productions, and photographic artists’ books. The prize has been created to recognize and reward the rich flora of photographic literature that is often published in limited editions.

Over the 28 times that the Swedish Photobook Award has been presented, many photobooks, photographers, designers, and publishers have been awarded. In connection with the award ceremony, films are produced about all the nominated photo authors and their books. An in-depth meeting with the author and an opportunity to spread and strengthen the position of photographic literature further.

Just over 100 photobooks were submitted for this year’s prize. Most are published by smaller publishers or by the photographer themselves on their own publishing house, others have been published by established publishers, both Swedish and foreign.

The Swedish Photobook Award was established in 1996 by the Photo Authors within the Swedish Photographers’ Association, to stimulate Swedish photobook publishing. The Photo Authors were formed in 1972 to give photobook-producing photographers greater opportunities to act strategically and collectively to strengthen the position of photographic literature. The activity benefits photographers both within and outside the association, who are engaged in book publishing and create content for literature.
