Centrum can be defined as a center, but also described as a heart, a core, or a focal point. However, what constitutes the center differs – what appears as an obvious center for someone may be in the periphery for another. An issue that is high on the agenda for some may be on the margins for others.

In a series of exhibitions – at Galleri Format, Kristianstads konsthall, Projektrum Hjärne, and Tjörnedala konsthall – the photographers Linnéa Cramer, Erich Hörtnagl, Axel Lundgren, Alice Millet, Anna Nordquist Andersson, Jens Nordström, Johanna Schartau, and Henrik Wejfeldt explore the theme. Their works revolve around issues of norms, representation, equality, identity, exclusion, place, belonging, history, and future.

During 2023–2024, the photographers have participated in (Centrum) – a project that, in addition to the exhibitions, has consisted of lectures, workshops, and other joint activities. The project has been run by Peo Olsson and Linda Unnhem, project managers for Centrum för fotografi in Skåne, with support from Region Skåne.
