Ingemar Edfalk: Shift of Power
Ingemar Edfalk
20220617 - 20220712
Quickly, very quickly, that which has been disciplined and structured by humans reclaims its own forms. The cultivated plants join the wild ones, and together they take the area back from the cultivators.
All the abandoned chairs and tools that remain lying or standing, overgrown after the area’s closure, symbolize this shift from human to plant rule. Now, it is the traces of human activity that have taken over the role of weeds.
Ingemar Edfalk’s images are from recurring visits to a colony area in Hässelby. The area has been closed
by the city because toxic substances and heavy metals were found in the soil, and it was thus determined that what is grown in the area may be toxic.
