Lisa Brunzell – Let the world adore you

After winning the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton in 1974, ABBA became a symbol of Sweden throughout Europe. Young, blonde, and reserved, they became stars overnight. Photographer Lisa Brunzell, based in Wales when she began working on the project, is interested in how their songs have been kept alive through the large number of tribute and cover bands dedicated to the legendary pop band.

In Let the world adore you, she explores how the artists have made their individual interpretations of the original ABBA members. Balancing between performance and reality, the artists are not entirely themselves, but not entirely in character either, or perhaps both at the same time. The book’s design explores the tension between glamour and everyday life. It features short texts inspired by the well-known original lyrics, which effectively highlight the dreams and fears behind the music, and reveal the artists’ personal feelings and thoughts.

The format is inspired by classic vinyl records.
