The “Periphery” fanzine project is coming to Northern Sweden
Would you like to have your photographic project published as a fanzine? We are now selecting twelve photographers to produce fanzines together during the spring of 2023. The project is an initiative to support and showcase the breadth of photography in Northern Sweden. This is a continuation of the Periphery project, which was initially carried out in the Västra Götaland region in 2021 and Skåne in 2022.
In connection with the completion of the fanzines, which will be presented in a joint box, we will be organising three different book releases at art galleries and museums around the region during the spring. The publications will be included in collections at libraries and institutions central to photography, and will become an important document of photographic projects in Sweden during the 2020s. Some sales will also take place via CFF’s webshop.
If you have a project idea that you want to develop and present in a fanzine, this is the platform for you. As a participant in the project, you also have the opportunity to participate in workshops focusing on book production and to meet and network with other photographers in your area.
The jury consists of Cecilia Andersson, curator and operations manager, MAN/Museum Anna Nordlander in Skellefteå, Lejla Porovic, curator, Sundsvall Museum, Karolina Aastrup, curator, Västernorrland Museum, and Mia Bengtsson Plynning, national coordinator at CFF.
Application
The application, which must be in PDF format (max. 10 MB), must contain:
A short project description (max. 500 characters).
A short presentation of you as a photographer (max. 500 characters).
Five images from the project you are applying with.
By applying, you commit to setting aside time during the spring to compile your fanzine. The time for fanzine production and workshops is mainly from the end of March to the beginning of May.
Please note that to apply, you must be resident in, or have your main artistic activity in Västernorrland, Västerbotten or Norrbotten. To participate in the project, you must also be a member of CFF. We would also like you to participate in workshops and book releases during the project.

Deadline: March 15. Notification will be given after the jury meeting. Project start at the end of March.
