After a four-year hiatus and in a new collaboration with the Center for Photography, the Gothenburg festival with full focus on photobooks is back. Now the program is released.

The focus of this year’s festival will be the mixture between the local and the international, we want to show exciting influences from other parts of the world for the Gothenburg audience and at the same time let the diversity of local photographers take place on the stage, says Tina Umer and Mercè Torres Ràfols, project managers Fotobok Gbg 2022.

This year’s program includes exhibitions of photobooks from Georgia, Latvia and Chile, with three lectures also following from these exhibitions. In addition to this, the program is full of artist talks by local photographers as well as an outdoor exhibition that came about after an Open Call.

During the days, the public will have the opportunity to meet various photographers and visual artists in a series of talks and lectures, music and mingling, as well as a photobook market that will take place on Sunday. There is also the opportunity to develop your own creativity through a series of workshops that are arranged in parallel with the festival, in Riso printing, to make your own zine (a smaller publication) of your images and feedback on an ongoing photobook project. In connection with the festival, Gothenburg University Library will show its collections of Artists’ books. Registration for workshops and the screening takes place separately, more info at www.fotobokgbg.com.

The festival takes place between November 17-20 and will then occupy Gothenburg’s House of Literature, at Heurlins plats 1.
