The exhibition Window Pane/Pain is part of the ongoing project Girl, Battle, in which Sofia Runarsdotter examines her time as a highly trained handball player in her teens. The project is based both on her own experiences and on general experiences of team sports and community at a sensitive age.
“It often strikes me that handball is seen as a pleasant association sport. However, I want to remember that the psychological and physical stresses were anything but negligible. They coincided with changes in a sensitive borderland between being a child and an adult, and they have left their mark. As an artist today, I visualize situations and moments that, at best, convey a sense of the serious “game”.” – Sofia Runarsdotter
Window Pane/Pain runs parallel to the solo exhibition Girl Unboxed, curated by Ashik Zaman (C-print) and shown in Havet, Konstfack 3–13/3. These are two exhibitions based on the long-term project Girl, Battle.
The exhibition runs from February 25 – March 20.
