The work The Broken Lens by Rikard Laving is displayed in our 24/7 exhibition space, The Window. The material originates from a dream where impaired vision and a shattered lens make the world blurry.
However, through old photo albums, the dream gains a real anchor; dream and reality blend together and become difficult to distinguish from each other. The publication’s physical design is intended to mimic the dream’s lack of order and logic, beginning and end.
Rikard Laving, born in 1978, works across genres with everything from documentary projects to artistic exploration of materials and techniques. He regularly publishes photographic books and is a trained teacher at Konstfack. He has been represented by the French gallery VU since 2016.
