Katarzyna Sokołowska: In my dreams, I am much braver
20251031 - 20251127
‘In my dreams, I am much braver’ deals with the tensions between dreams of the future and the expectations of adult life. The people involved in the project are all in their 30s and belong to the first generation born after the fall of communism in Poland.
They are as open-minded as they are hesitant, as energetic as they are embittered, and struggle to understand what freedom means. At the same time, they are influenced by their parents’ background, marked by a time that was severely deprived of all forms of freedom.
Katarzyna Sokołowska – born in Krakow, Poland, in 1991, studies photography at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. She is a graduate of the “SPUTNIK” mentoring program in Warsaw, and from the Fotografiska Akademin in Krakow, Poland. She holds a master’s degree in translation studies and international communication from Jagiellonian University. In her photographic work, she is interested in human nature and body language.
