Photography in film – a conversation with directors Klára Tasovská and Maud Nycander
Director Klára Tasovská is currently showing ”I’m Not Everything I Want to Be” at Tempo, which portrays the life of Libuše Jarcovjáková and is entirely based on her photographs and diaries. Here, Tasovská meets director Maud Nycander in a conversation about still and moving images and what it is like to start from someone else’s written words.
Maud Nycander has been active in the world of film for many years and has portrayed the life of photographer Inta Ruka in two films. Nycander is now showing the documentary film “Nun – 25 years in a convent”, which premieres on the big screen this autumn.

Klára Tasovská is the director of the film ”I’m Not Everything I Want to Be”, which premieres during the documentary film festival Tempo. Her film depicts the life of Libuše Jarcovjáková and is based entirely on Libuše’s photographs and diaries. Here, Tasovská meets the Swedish director Maud Nycander in a conversation about using still photography versus moving images in film, and what it’s like to tell a story from someone else’s written words.
