Welcome to the opening of Encircling Stories by Dev Dhunsi, on Friday, September 20th, from 5 PM to 8 PM.

A spatial installation displays a series of photographs printed on fabric, all revolving around the Indian countryside and the country’s textile industry. The exhibition contains a story about the world’s longest factory, but also a personal journey through textile landscapes.

Dev Dhunsi’s father brought home-woven carpets with him when he made the journey from India to Norway. In the exhibition, the artist continues that journey by traveling to India and visiting places important to the textile industry, introducing us to the individuals who manufacture the products we consume. With a deeply empathetic gaze, he shows us environments, machines, people, and crafts, giving us his account of the place.

Dev Dhunsi (b. 1996) lives and works in Oslo, Norway. He graduated (MFA) from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 2024. He also studied at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. He has previously published Encircling Stories, Heavy Books, (2023) and RAKAVAN, Forlaget Fotografi (2019).

The exhibition is part of the celebration of CFF’s 25th anniversary. During the anniversary, we will look back, but also look forward and make observations towards where photography is heading.
