Exhibition Opening: Swedish Photobook Prize 2025 during Kulturnatt Stockholm
Welcome to the opening of the Swedish Photobook Prize at the Center for Photography. Come and browse this year’s entries for the Photobook Prize and the Artist Book Prize! The exhibition features more than 100 photobooks, published by both larger and smaller publishers.
The winner of the Swedish Photobook Prize 2025 is Ela Polkowska with her book “Splinter.” The nominees for the Swedish Photobook Prize 2025, in addition to the winner, were Eija Hetekivi, Julian Slagman, Kent Klich, and Maja Daniels. A total of 119 photobooks were submitted this year, which is a record.
For the second year in a row, the Artist Book Prize is also being awarded. This is a prize for photographers who work with smaller editions, experimental productions, and photographic artist books. This year, the prize went to Ines Sebalj and her photobook “Jag begär krig” (I Demand War).
The Swedish Photobook Prize was established in 1996 by Fotoförfattarna (Photo Authors) within the Swedish Photographers’ Association to stimulate Swedish photobook publishing. Fotoförfattarna was formed in 1972 to give photographers producing photobooks greater opportunities to work strategically and collectively to strengthen the position of photographic literature. The organization benefits photographers both within and outside the association who are engaged in book publishing and create content for literature.
The exhibition is a collaboration with Fotoförfattarna (Photo Authors) within the Swedish Photographers’ Association. This year’s jury consisted of Louise Wolthers, Göran Greider, Casia Bromberg, Alexandra Ellis, and Nicolás Wormull.
