Digital Artist Talk: Fantasies of Leaving by Alena Zabolotina
Fantasies about leaving is an intimate reflection on disappearance, transformation, and the longing to dissolve into nature. With it, I want to explore the boundary between presence and absence, between existing and disappearing.
The project, which has been ongoing from 2022 to 2024, takes shape through several different types of media and materials – photography, photo books, photo films, and textile printing.
At its core, Fantisies of leaving is about letting go of control – about giving up and becoming something beyond oneself. It is a meditation on mortality, on the beauty of disappearing, and on the quiet, inevitable return to the elements from which we once came.
