The ongoing project about Aina & Tage is based on a book published under the same name by Journal in 2017. In the ongoing second part of the work, she approaches issues related to relationships and the structures within which they take shape, as well as the fact that life is finite and what this does to a love relationship.

At the same time, Uhlin reflects on her role as a photographer and as a grandchild of those portrayed, about the mutual trust that she and her grandparents have built up to each other during their lives, and how it affects her ability to photograph them. Uhlin’s hope is that the selection of images shown in Fönstret should be read as fragments, rather than a linear narrative.

Rebecka Uhlin (b. 1986) is a photographer based in Stockholm, educated at Nordens Fotoskola and the Danish School of Media and Journalism. In addition, she has a master’s degree in gender studies. Uhlin runs independent projects over a long period of time, and focuses on topics such as relationships and social constructions. She often works with an analog medium format camera, with the aim of finding presence in a slow working pace. Uhlin has had solo exhibitions at, among others, Arbetets Museum, Galleri Axel and Galleri Ibis. In 2017, she published the book Aina & Tage – the first part of the story about her grandparents – with Journal. In the same year, she participated in World Press Photo’s prestigious Joop Swart Masterclass.

The digital artist talk will take place via Centrum för fotografi’s Instagram on Friday, August 29 at 13:00.
