Libuše Jarcovjáková, born in 1952, is currently exhibiting her photographs at the Center for Photography in the exhibition T-club. T-club was a meeting place for LGBTQI people and their friends in Prague during the 1980s, and the exhibition shows pictures that Jarcovjáková took between 1983 and 1985 from this legendary club.

T-Club was a place where people could be themselves – a sanctuary where one could escape the oppression of the communist regime for a night. Here, people met to socialize and dance in a safe and free environment.

Sam Hultin, born in 1982, is an artist and writer with a particular focus on queer historiography. In their work, Sam often connects personal stories to larger social and political contexts. For several years, Sam has worked with the life and archive of trans pioneer Eva-Lisa Bengtson, including through city walks in Stockholm where you can follow in Eva-Lisa’s footsteps. Sam recently debuted as an author with the biography Eva-Lisa’s Monument.

During the evening’s program, we will hear Sam and Libuše talk about their artistic processes and projects. We will also take part in a conversation between Sam and Libuše, where they share their thoughts on the importance of physical meeting places, both then and now.
What was it like to photograph at T-club? And what was it like to stay in the rooms that Eva-Lisa created for and with her friends in Stockholm?

The program takes place at the Center for Photography.
