Alena Zabolotina

Biography

Alena Zabolotina (b.1992, Kokchetav, Kazakhstan) is a contemporary artist who uses photography, video, 3D in her artistic practice. Her work explores the nature of man, contrasting nature with the new realities of global extinction. The working methods imitate many different views through which we can look at the problem: the eye of a person or an animal, a camera or a smartphone, a lidar, or a thermal imager.
Alena received a master's degree in universal history. The theme of the dissertation is addressed to the study of the aspect of color in photojournalism of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

I want to show my vision of the next few decades when plastic will become an organic part of the bodies of animals. In this visualization of possible Other spaces, I am trying to take a step from a reality where animals die from the influence of plastic to an unreality where they do not die, but adapt.
