The Periphery fanzine project is an initiative to support and showcase the breadth of photographic activity in Skåne. This is a continuation of the project that was initially carried out in the Västra Götaland region in 2021.

In connection with the launch of the publications, we will be holding three different releases in the region during the autumn. The first release will take place on November 16 at Malmö Konsthall. Periphery will be included in collections at libraries and institutions central to photography, and will be for sale in our webshop. In the webshop, you can currently see the results from the participants in Västra Götaland 2021.

The participating photographers are: Alexandra Lige, Alice Millet, Christian Skog, Cia Kanthi, Frans Hällqvist, Futuro Berg Fredes, Inga Linn Härdelin, Johanna Schartau, Jonas Dahlström, Kim Westerström, Lotten Pålsson and Roger Westin, Marie Andersson, Martin Magntorn and Måns Jensen.

“Periphery was carried out last year in Västra Götaland and is now underway in Skåne with a total of 33 different photographic projects. The idea is that Periphery will be done in northern Sweden, Stockholm and broadly across the country within the next few years, and that in this way we will get a unique overview of Swedish photography in the 2020s. Five different boxes with a total of about 80 contemporary photographers give a broad picture of ongoing photographic projects today.”
– Mia Bengtsson Plynning, national coordinator at Centrum för fotografi.

The jury consisted of Annie Lindberg, acting director of Skissernas Museum in Lund, Thomas Millroth, art critic with a strong interest in Artist’s Books, Lisa Olausson, graphic designer with a focus on printed form and exhibition design, and Mia Bengtsson Plynning, national coordinator at Centrum för fotografi.
