Vernissage: Akram Mahmod & Camilla Löf

Centrum för fotografi presents a members’ exhibition with Akram Mahmod and Camilla Löf—two photographers based in Skåne whose artistic practices, each in their own way, investigate memory, identity, and place through different photographic techniques and materials.

The exhibition opens at 1:00 pm with an artist talk.

Akram Mahmod is a Malmö- and Stockholm-based artist who works at the intersection of photography, film, and installation. In his work, Mahmod draws on private family archives consisting of documents, photographs, and videotapes left behind. With his own experiences as a first-generation Swede, raised in Skåne, he approaches questions of identity, belonging, and representation. By allowing the faded and decayed archival material to take new form, he examines how memories and narratives are preserved, transformed, and passed on.

Camilla Löf’s work revolves around time, memory, and movement. She works with several photographic techniques: digital photography, collage, and cyanotype. In the project SKOGAR (FORESTS), she embarks on a nostalgic journey through tranquil groves, enchanting woods, and menacing thickets, to depict the complex web of memories that constitute childhood. SKOGAR is based on an installation: a forest of birch trees that visitors can enter.

The exhibition is displayed in Smedstorps Sädesmagasin, a utility building from the late 19th century, located in the heart of Österlen. The granary has been slowly renovated with local materials, with the goal of creating an arena for a contemporary exploration of image, film, and photography.
