Ongoing Process / 8 photographers
20250610 - 20250614
What happens when eight photographers are given the opportunity to immerse themselves in their own projects during a spring semester, in dialogue with each other and with themselves? What happens when ideas are allowed to grow slowly, with room for both uncertainty and depth, and when artistic processes are allowed to run in parallel – but never in isolation?
The exhibition Ongoing Process is the result of a course at the Center for Photography where participants have been able to explore their own photographic narratives in a context that both challenges and supports. During six physical meetings, projects have emerged, been reshaped, matured – and in some cases, perhaps opened up more new questions than provided definitive answers.
This exhibition showcases the diversity of contemporary photography. It encompasses the personal and the political, the documentary and the dreamlike, the concrete and the symbolic. Together, the works move between body and identity, memory and loss, the space between reality and fiction – and out into the structures of society and the external landscape.
Each project carries its own tone and theme, but what they have in common is that they have taken shape through an active artistic investigation. The participants have not only created images – they have formulated, reflected, written, shared, and listened. Throughout the process, the group’s conversations and shared gaze have functioned as both a mirror and a sounding board, creating a context in which each artist has been able to grow.
Ongoing Process is therefore not only a title but also a method, an approach. It is a way of looking at artistic work as living, changeable, and relational. The photographs in this exhibition testify that artistry does not arise in solitude, but in meetings – with the material, with the world around us, and with each other.
Welcome to eight different worlds – and a common space.
