Displacing a Place – Eric Magassa talks about his work process with the project “The Lost Series”
Eric Magassa has been working for a long time with The Lost Series, where, with playful self-portraits, he approaches various suburban landscapes to break the mass media’s monotonous image of the places.
During the lecture, he will talk about his work process, the methods used, the project’s development, and the conditions of the various locations. In addition, he will share reflections on the project’s progress over time and how chance has played a significant role.
Eric Magassa works trans-artistically with painting, photography, video, and collage through which he explores questions about identity, liminality, and its connection to memories and places.
Previous exhibitions include Malmö Konsthall (2023), Gothenburg Museum of Art (2022), Marres House for Contemporary Culture, Maastricht, Netherlands (2021), Gothenburg International Biennial for Contemporary Art GIBCA (2019), Valongo Festival, Santos, Brazil (2019).
