On October 10th, we celebrate Nicolás Wormull’s new book, Finding Home (Blackbook Publications).

Finding Home is a photo essay that, through a father’s eyes, depicts a daughter’s depression and inner journey. The family moves to Sweden from Latin America. For the teenager, a difficult time ensues with a new language, a gray everyday life, and a harsh climate at school. She is enveloped by a deep darkness where the adults stand powerless. With the camera and time as tools, we see an intimate process of healing and new breaths. Wormull gently presents his daughter’s struggle, everyday life, and path back.

6:15 PM Photographer Ewa Stackelberg talks with the father and daughter about how Finding Home came to be and how photography helped them process and share their story.

Nicolás Wormull (b. 1977), with roots in Chile, now working in Sweden. His photography explores themes such as belonging through an examination of family and interpersonal relationships. He is strongly influenced by his transnational roots and his own experiences of growing up in two different cultures.
